You will find this piece in the large display case in the rocks and minerals section of the ‘Earth Today’ exhibition, opposite the Mediterranean Island of Science.
The action of erosion and the sedimentation produced by the winds can create peculiar phenomena of great beauty, such as ‘landscape’ sandstone. What might appear the result of human intervention is, in fact, generated by deposits of different coloured detrital matter and changes in wind direction, which sculpted the undulations that make this specimen a work of geological art.
The piece was donated by Dr Alfredo San Miguel, director of the Museu Martorell from 1955 to 1985, and came from Tuscany (Italy).
