Science Collections Documentary collections

The documentary collections consists of books and documents on the following subjects: Geology, Palaeontology, Mineralogy, Nature, Biodiversity, Zoology (especially Malacology and Entomology), Ethology, Bioacoustics, Taxidermy, Museology and Museography. The documentary collection on botany, located at the Institut Botànic de Barcelona, ​​is managed jointly with the CSIC.

The Documentation Centre belongs to the CSIC Network of Libraries in the category of “associate library”. You can find the documentary collections of the Library and Media Library, as well as those of other libraries nationwide that are specialised in our disciplines, in CSIC bibliographic catalogueOur documents are coded there under the heading B-CienNat. The ones in the Media Library are differentiated by the code MED.

The documents of the Library and the Archive of the Botanical Institute of Barcelona, ​​which are also part of the CSIC network, have the code B-IBB. The part with the most patrimonial value is formed by the documents of the Library and the ‘Archive of the Salvador Family.
