The Museu de Ciències Naturals de Barcelona (Natural Science Museum of Barcelona), situated in the Forum Park, was built by the architects Herzog & de Meuron in 2004. Near the sea and the river Besòs has become since March 2011 an open and dynamic facility, representative and useful in the context of the current environmental problems that face us today. The Museum occupies a total area of 9,000 square metres, distributed on two floors. Its modern facilities and services, aimed at all audiences, are structured around a huge, open-access hall, the starting and finishing point for all the exhibitions and services here. These facilities include: the permanent exhibition; the temporary exhibition areas; the Media Library; the Science Nest (for children aged 0-6 years); the lecture rooms; the Auditorium Ramón Margalef; workshops; and the shop.
