  • Asociación de Museos y Centros de Ciencia y Técnica de España

    The Asociación de Museos y Centros de Ciencia y Técnica de España ( Spanish Association of Museums and Science and Technology Centres, AMCCTE) was formally established in December 2016, although its members had commenced work on its articles and bylaws as early as 2007.

    The mission of the AMCCTE is to promote an interest in and understanding of the importance of science, technology, research and innovation among the public by fostering their involvement and participation through collaboration between AMCCTE members.

    Membership, composed of both public and private institutions, includes natural history museums, science and technology museums, botanical gardens, aquariums, planetariums and similar organisations.

    The Natural Sciences Museum of Barcelona (MCNB) has been a member from the outset and Anna Omedes, MCNB director, is the president of the AMCCTE Board.

    The AMCCTE’s specific aims are as follows:

    • To foster a scientific and technical culture and raise awareness of the impact of science and technology on people’s daily lives
    • To forge links between the public and science and technology by facilitating people’s inclusion and participation in scientific and technical debates
    • To raise the level of excellence of science, technology and innovation
    • To highlight scientific research as a driver of social progress
    • To act as an interlocutor with public bodies regarding scientific and technical communication matters
    • To promote mechanisms of communication and collaboration between R+D+i agents (research centres, companies, universities) so as to draw attention to their work and achievements and to publicly recognize the efforts of their staff
    • To represent and defend the interests of its members, provide services and foster partnerships and alliances
    • To collaborate with similar bodies at the international level
    • To encourage collaboration between individuals and groups belonging to its members with a view to sharing knowledge, ideas and skills
    • To facilitate the exchange of resources between members
    • To provide support in the form of information, advice, good practices, etc to members.

  • Catálogo de Publicaciones Periódicas en Bibliotecas de Ciencias de la Salud Españolas (C17)

    The Catalogue of Periodical Publications in Spanish Health Science Libraries C17 groups together the collections of 500 Spanish libraries.  It was first published on CD-ROM in 1996. It is currently a centralized catalogue that attached libraries can consult via the Internet.

  • Sociedad Geológica de España (SGE)

    The Geological Society of Spain is a scientific association that promotes, encourages and disseminates knowledge, progress and applications relating to geology. It has some 1000 members, mainly from universities, public research centres, secondary education institutes and private companies from Spain as well as from other countries of Europe, the Americas and Africa.

  • Red de Bibliotecas y Archivos del CSIC

    The Network of Libraries of the Scientific Research Council is part of the CSIC Scientific Information System (SIC) and is made up of the Scientific Information Resources Unit for Research and 63 specialist libraries and more than 13 scientific archives. As well as the CSIC libraries, it also includes five external libraries, one of which is the library of the Museu de Ciències Naturals de Barcelona (Natural History Museum of Barcelona).

  • Red de Bancos de Semillas de Plantas Silvestres y Fitorrecursos Autóctonos (REDBAG)

    The Network of Banks of Wild-Plant Germplasm and Autochthonous Plant Resources is made up of the Spanish members of the AIMJB who have a germplasm bank (BAG) and by banks that depend on institutions other than the botanic gardens and who are also active in the management of wild species.

  • Red de Centros de Información y Documentación Ambiental (RECIDA)

    RECIDA promotes coordination and collaboration between its members in order to improve the service it provides to its users, encourage collaboration and experience in projects, share resources, train experts in information management and environmental documentation following UICN guidelines, and provides tools to improve the management of the centres that are part of the network.

  • Observatorio para la Investigación en Conservación del Patrimonio Cultural

    The Observatory for Research on Conservation of Cultural Heritage is one of the lines of action of the national plan for research on conservation (PNIC) of the Institut de Patrimoni Cultural d’Espanya (Institute of Cultural Heritage of Spain). It encourages joint participation of researchers in projects for the national and European plant and promotes the transfer of knowledge and research results between institutions, researchers, companies and society.
