Micromounts are minerals that must be viewed through a binocular microscope, generally at a power of between 10x and 60x. Details of the mineral that are invisible to the naked eye can be seen with this method. A wide range of species from every locality can be studied this way. Their small size and the ability to study many different species make this type of mineral quite attractive for collecting purposes.
