Castell dels Tres Dragons

The NAT Venues Castell dels Tres Dragons

The Castell dels Tres Dragons building is located in Ciutadella Park, one of the Museum’s scientific sites. It currently contains the zoology and geology collections. The facility, which is used for much of the Museum’s scientific research and for management of the content of the collections, also houses the services necessary to conserve, document and study this rich heritage.

The Castell dels Tres Dragons, which was built by Lluís Domènech i Montaner as a café-restaurant for the 1888 Universal Exposition, is rich in architectural and artistic importance. Over the first third of the 20th century, the building was used for a variety of purposes, including activities revolving around the natural sciences, but it has since been devoted exclusively to zoology.

The Castell dels Tres Dragons also houses a library specialising in these scientific fields.

Note: the centre is closed to the general public , except  the scientific access to collections that are opened to public.
