The event was broadcasted live on the Museum\u2019s YouTube channel.<\/p>\n<p>See the event again in this <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/8MOZwn9swtg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">link.<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Nat 2020 award winners<\/h3>\n<p>In its third edition, this year the jury has awarded the <strong>Nat award 2020<\/strong> prize to <strong>Ramon Folch<\/strong>, a doctor of biology and socioecologist, for his work in research, dissemination, and defence of biodiversity and the environment, both locally and internationally, for his creation of innovative scientific and educational tools for naturalists and ecologists, bringing together experts, and for the impact his work has had in many professional fields and in raising society\u2019s awareness of nature.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Posthumous Honourable Mention<\/strong> goes to <strong>Lynn Margulis<\/strong>, biologist and thinker, for her contributions in the field of evolutionary biology, and who stirred up our understanding of the world with her theory placing symbiosis and cooperation at the heart of evolution, as well as for her exceptional work in education and spreading knowledge in her field.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The <\/strong><strong>Nat award 2020 Jury is formed by: \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dacha Atienza, Head of the Scientific Area at the Museu de Ci\u00e8ncies Naturals de Barcelona.<\/li>\n<li>Mara Dierssen, Senior Scientist at the Centre for Genomic Regulation, Barcelona.<\/li>\n<li>Mart\u00ed Dom\u00ednguez, writer and director of the scientific journal <em>M\u00e8tode<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Xavier Duran, writer and journalist with TV3.<\/li>\n<li>Teresa Garnatje, director of the Institut Bot\u00e0nic de Barcelona (Botanical Institute of Barcelona \u2013 IBB).<\/li>\n<li>Anna Omedes, director of the Museu de Ci\u00e8ncies Naturals de Barcelona.<\/li>\n<li>Joandom\u00e8nec Ros, president of the Institut d\u2019Estudis Catalans (Institute for Catalan Studies \u2013 IEC).<\/li>\n<li>Jury secretary: Jordi Serrallonga, archaeologist, naturalist and adviser to the Museum.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nat awards 2020 were presented at 6:30\u00a0p.m. on 25 November, with the winner, Ramon Folch, delivering a conference entitled \u201cSpreading knowledge rather than curiosities\u201d as part of the event.
